A Singer Murdered in 2024 “Returned” to the Stage: the Technology That Revived El Taiger

El Taiger, an urban music artist who was killed some months ago, was “resurrected” as a hologram during a show in Miami.

Cuban urban music singer José Manuel Carvajal, better known as El Taiger, was shot dead in Miami in October 2024 at the age of 37. This past weekend, in that same city, he “came back to life” in a performance by his colleagues Charly and Johayron.

During the Cuban duo’s show, an advanced projection hologram technology brought the late singer back to life. It was meant as a tribute to his figure and legacy in the Cuban-American urban music scene.

The hologram appeared at life-size, singing alongside them by using his voice in one of the duo’s songs.

Hologram technology in musical shows has been used in various ways over the past few years: Argentine singer Carlos “Indio” Solari appeared this way with his band Los Fundamentalistas del Aire Acondicionado after retiring from the stage for health reasons.

In different shows, artists like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Elvis have also “come back to life,” while ABBA used this technology to present their younger-looking bodies onstage, mixing them with their current voices.
